Deadlocked Boredom Killer Trivia ("the game", "we") is a free trivia game at deadlockedboredomkiller.com. This page explains what information is used when you play.

What the game stores on your device

Your player name, scores, personal bests and game settings are saved in your browser's local storage on your own device. They are not sent to us, except as described under "World leaderboard". You can clear them at any time with "Clear this player's history" in the game or by clearing your browser data.

World leaderboard

If you play online, your chosen player name and your game scores are sent to our leaderboard so they can be shown to other players. Don't use your real full name or anything personal as a player name. We don't collect email addresses or accounts.

Questions and pictures

Questions are built from Wikidata, and pictures load from Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia. When your browser loads them, those services receive the usual technical information any website receives, such as your IP address. See the Wikimedia Foundation privacy policy.

Advertising

The game is free and is paid for by ads served by Google. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, to limit how often you see an ad, and to measure how ads perform. Depending on your choices and where you live, these may be personalised ads based on your visits to this and other websites.

You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and you can turn off personalised ads at adssettings.google.com. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalised ads are shown.

The optional "Watch an ad · skip ahead" button only shows an ad when you choose to press it.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Netlify, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP addresses and the pages requested) to run and protect the service.

Children

The game is meant for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
